Welcome

Welcome to the ACT Bar Association, the professional body that regulates barristers in the Australian Capital Territory. We represent the interests of members who practise at the private bar and work towards maintaining a strong and independent bar in the ACT, in the interest of the Canberra community.

2014 is our 50th anniversary. Please join us to celebrate our diamond year of achievement and memories.

While our website is designed specifically for our members, other legal professionals, students and members of the general public will find useful information and news about practising in the ACT and law reform issues.

News

There is a higher than average level of stress within the legal profession.
This may take the form of anxiety, depression, alcohol and drug misuse, family issues, work pressures and related problems.
We encourage members to prioritise their health and see a professional psychologist - a free service for members.
